Freelance school photography
Back to school as a School photographer
I had the lovely opportunity to spend 5 weeks in Stockholm freelancing as a School photographer while meeting the fall. By this time of the year (September), many schools are taking portraits, group shots and exterior images for the annual yearbook. So I was happy to be invited back for the two companies I’ve worked with before and to meet all these kids again.
The work as a School photographer includes early mornings, a lot of car driving heading out before sunrise – in order to prepare and set up temporary photo studios. And it includes meeting a bunch of students from kindergarten to gymnasium. It also means an intense work on short deadlines, interacting and instructing groups of children – knowing how to best organize and capture them on a very short time. It involves handling a valuable camera equipment, some administrative computer work and the hardest bit – to make the selection out of all these beautiful photos.
What I really love about this temporary and busy work is the opportunity to meet so many people on such a short amount of time. I love meeting all these kids, see their different personalities and expressions – and to capture them with the camera. The fact that it involves so much laughing, smiles and humor makes me happy being able to serve- through the lens.
